Natural language processing means users could interact with your app not just by voice an chat but they could also use say text messages to get things done.

Personalization has always been around as next big thing but with generative AI there is an increasing demand for even more personalization. Personalization is in some sense an endless road without destination but AI takes it to next level.

Not only content can be personalized but entire app can be personalized to based on user’s very specific mindset. UI, Features, Social features etc. can all adapt to the user’s personal experience. ChatGPT and others have already demonstrated how you can build a proper context of user’s desires and then accordingly provides much more tailored response.

Image recognition

Image models have become increasingly capable. They can not just generate images but extract very complex metadata from images and videos. This was possible earlier only with extremely complex engineering but now it has been as simple as a REST call. The new generation of apps would increasingly use images. Take a photo and search the web, take a photo and place and order. Take a photo of car and detect a good price to sell it for and so on.

The possibilities are endless.

Super Apps

Super apps is an emerging trend. An app that does a lot. It can handle your banking needs to shopping, from maps to not taking. These apps will be build as a lego blocks of various features that adapt to the user’s need and context. There is a good chance some super-apps might simple take over all the needs of the user.

Agentic Apps

Imagine pressing a button that says “Hire Bob, who can book concert tickets for me”. Bob gets hired, he gets a phone number, a credit card, a persona and knows you like your spouse. Bob when asked to monitors the web for concert tickets, negotiates when he must, look for deals and buys the tickets for you. After the job is done you fire him without remorse. Bob could be someone from India or could just be a pure AI bot.

This will be revolutionary.
